Case Snapshot #4
One customer wanted a plastic part, roughly ½ inch long on all sides, with about 100 dimensioned features.
This part also needed a latching mechanism, and needed to have insert molded the following: one metal housing,
one piece of special viewing glass, and two metal pins that were held to 0.00015 inch total position tolerance
and 0.1 degree of angular tolerance. We had to protect the insert-molded glass from fracture by building
flow-front shields into the glass holding area. We had to account for the effect of the glass in the overall
shrink of the final part. Numerous changes have been made as we cooperated with our customer's long development.
This project is seeing ongoing success and growth.
